ATASCADERO — Seven men from Northern and Southern California were arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly impersonating law enforcement while invading and robbing a home in Atascadero.
Atascadero police responded to a home on the 8400 block of San Gregorio Road at approximately 2:30 a.m. Saturday after receiving a call about a home invasion. Officers were on scene within minutes and witnessed two vehicles leaving the area. The vehicles were stopped and seven suspects were taken into custody. A preliminary investigation revealed that the men had entered the victims' residence and identified themselves as police. According to a press release issued by the Atascadero Police Department, the suspects held the victims at gunpoint and forcefully restrained them before taking a large amount of cash and other property.
One of the victims was able to free himself and called 911.
All seven of the suspects were taken into custody with the assistance of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol. The suspects were found to be in possession of the victims' stolen property. The suspects were also found to be in possession of firearms, one of which had been reported stolen.
Police believe that the men specifically targeted the residence.
The suspects were taken to San Luis Obispo County Jail and were charged with robbery. According to the police, additional charges are pending.
Arrested were Carnell Boweden, 34, of San Bernardino; Michael Bowden, 31, of Long Beach; John Cichosz, 36, of Oakley; Treaveon Falls, 26, of Long Beach; Tamone Thompson, 37, of Hayward; Joseph Perry, 35, of Antioch; and Daniel Gonzalez, 47, of Antioch.
