911 system down for Verizon customers


Call local fire and police departments directly for emergency assistance

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office was notified today, March 7, via email that Verizon is unable to provide 911 service to residents of SLO County.

At this time, the state 911 system and Verizon are aware of the issue and are working to correct it, but there is no estimate as to when this issue will be resolved.

The Sheriff's Office is recommending Verizon customers who need emergency assistance to call the fire department or law enforcement agency directly. In Atascadero, call 805-461-5070 for the fire department and 805-461-5051 for local police. In Paso Robles, call 805-227-7560 for the fire department and 805-237-6464 for local police.

The County Office of Emergency Services has an information-only line that is available at 805-543-2444.

The Sheriff's Office will provide updates to this situation as available.
