Following her performance at the Cal Poly ShareSLO Invitational on Saturday, Mustang senior Miranda Daschian was voted by the Big West head coaches as the conference’s Women’s Track Athlete of the Week announced Tuesday.

Daschian was one of two individuals to break the 37th annual invite meet record for the 1,500 meters, as she finished second overall (first among collegians) with a time of 4 minutes, 25.01 seconds.

While earning second overall to former UCSB All-America honorable mention Jenna Hinkle (4:24.01 for Hoka Aggie Club), Daschian moved to No. 6 in the country for 2019.

Later on in the meet, Daschian came back to take second place in the 3,000m, via another PR of 9:41.21.

Daschian’s 1,500m time ranks No. 1 in the Big West and No. 2 in the NCAA’s western division.

In addition to leading the conference, her effort is also 0.6 seconds back of Oklahoma’s Haley Herberg for the top spot regionally. Florida State sophomore Maudie Skyring currently holds the No. 1 ranking in the nation: 4:21.25.
