CalFresh Market Match expands

Providing access to fresh fruit and vegetables for those with EBT

COUNTY — If you receive CalFresh Benefits you can use your EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) card to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at farmer’s markets, the Market Match Program will give you $ 1 for each EBT $1 that you spend up to $10.
The Market Match Program is expanding to Arroyo Grande Wednesday and San Luis Obispo’s Thursday night Farmers’ Markets.
The North County Farmers’ Markets continues to offer the Market Match Program at Markets in Paso Robles, Templeton, Atascadero, Morro Bay and Los Osos.
Eating healthy is easier when people have access to fresh, affordable choices. Market Match Tokens can be used with any farmer in the market that sells fruits, vegetables, or fresh-cut herbs. CalFresh recipients are able to purchase locally grown, health food and stretch their buying power and local farmers have widened their pool of potential customers. Access to healthy food and nutrition is a key factor in maintaining good health.
Market March is California’s healthy food incentive program that matches the customer’s federal nutrition assistance benefit, like CalFresh and WIC at farmer’s Markets. The offer is good until all the Market Money is gone.
How does Market Match Work?
Go to a farmers’ market that accepts EBT and offers Market Match.
Go to the farmer’s market booth or table to obtain EBT tokens and ask about Market Match
The staff will give you a dollar Market Match Token or Voucher to each EBT $ that you spend.
Use the EBT Tokens and the Market Match Tokens to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables or fresh-cut herbs at the Farmers’ Market.
