Chevron robber caught in Santa Barbara


ATASCADERO — A man suspected of having robbed a Chevron gas station was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 25, the Atascadero Police Department reported.

During the investigation of the reported armed robbery of the gas station in the 8900 block of Montecito Avenue in Atascadero on Sept. 20, officers learned more about their suspect by collaborating with other law enforcement agencies.

APD investigators learned that eight hours prior to the robbery another robbery occurred in King City that was similar to the one in Atascadero. Upon talking with outside law enforcement agencies, it was learned that both robberies were likely committed by the same suspect. Additionally, it was learned that the vehicle the suspect was operating was a reported stolen vehicle out of San Jose.

On Tuesday, Sept. 25, Atascadero Police Investigators learned that the stolen vehicle was located in Santa Barbara and the driver of the vehicle was arrested. APD investigators responded to Santa Barbara and upon searching the suspect’s vehicle, they located evidence associated with the crime. The suspect in this investigation has been identified as Frank Anthony Ramos Jr., 41, of San Diego. Ramos Jr., is currently in custody at the Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of  being in possession of a stolen vehicle and a parole hold. The Atascadero Police Department will be seeking charges for robbery with the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office.
