Chipping program returns to Atascadero

ATASCADERO — The San Luis Obispo County Fire Safe Council has awarded Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services grant funds for hazardous fuel reduction “chipping” for 2019. The Chipping program will be offered to those properties in the High and Very High Fire Severity zones within city limits. Registration deadline is March 8, and the chipping will begin on March 18. For more information email the Program Coordinator at [email protected]
Register online at www.atascadero.org/chipping or complete the registration form and mail to Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services, 6005 Lewis Ave., Atascadero, CA, 93422. All material must be piled near road or driveway and be easily accessible
Stack branches with the butt ends facing the same direction. Branch diameter can be up to 5-inch round with the length not to exceed 15 feet. Keep piles free of household trash, processed lumber, poison oak and avoid vine type vegetation as this may jam the chipper.
