Community invited to get a taste of Cuesta College at Cougar Welcome Days

PASO ROBLES — The public is invited to come onto Cuesta College’s San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles campuses during the month of April to get a taste of college life and register for courses during the college’s inaugural Cougar Welcome Days. Potential students and their families will have the opportunity to tour the campus, learn about Career Technical Education and academic programs from faculty, and speak with financial aid representatives who can assist with filling out FAFSA and Dream Act forms. In addition, college representatives will be on hand to assist in the registration process for both the upcoming Summer and Fall 2018 semesters.
“Cougar Welcome Days is the college’s official introduction to everyone who has decided to start – or continue – their education at Cuesta College,” said Cuesta College Director of Outreach, Orientation and Success Activities Jeffery Alexander.
“Those who attend can expect a fun, family-friendly day full of academic resources intended to prepare potential students for academic success at Cuesta College. We hope folks walk away registered for courses and feeling excited and supported as they pursue higher education at Cuesta College.”
Lunch, music, and giveaways will be included. In addition, a ‘Parent College’ workshop will be held, providing parents with information on the transition to college and hands-on help with the financial aid process. A ‘Cougar Cub Corner’ will also be set up for younger members of the family. The event on the North County Campus will include a look at the college’s agriculture program via a plant sale. Approximately 3,000 plants – including a variety of vegetables – will be for sale in the campus’s Plant Science Facility in building N5300.
Cougar Welcome Days will take place on on Saturday, April 21 at the North County Campus and on Saturday, April 28 for the San Luis Obispo Campus. Both events will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Those who plan to attend should first apply for the Fall 2018 semester and then complete the online orientation. Registration for Cougar Welcome Days is required to attend. (Upon event registration, attendees will select a 3.5-hour session to attend.)
The 2018 summer semester starts at Cuesta College on June 18 and runs through July 27. The fall semester runs Aug. 13 through Dec. 14.
