SAN LUIS OBISPO — Cuesta College women’s soccer enjoyed its best season in over a decade as the Cougars spent most of the season in the state rankings and posted a 13-7 record on the year. Cuesta finished third with a 6-4 record in the Western State Conference and landed seven players on the 2018 All-Western State Conference teams, led by three first-team selections — Martha Mora (Coast Union HS), Alley Andrade (Atascadero HS), and Serena Ramirez (Atascadero HS). The Cougars jumped out of the gates with a school-record five straight wins to open the campaign and spent the nearly the season in the state’s top 20. Unfortunately, Cuesta’s 29th-ranked regional strength of schedule kept them out of the playoffs.

She currently ranks sixth on Cuesta’s career scoring list. Andrade only scored two goals but led the team with 12 assists, which is the second highest single-season total in Cuesta History. Her aggressive runs out of the backfield drew attention and opened up her teammates as the Cougars finished the season 21st in the state in goals per game (2.90). Ramirez held down the center of the field and led the transition for the Cougars. She also added 20 total points with seven goals and six assists.
