Fidencio (Vince) Romero, 87, passed away Jan. 25, 2019 at his home in Paso Robles, surrounded by his family and friends. He will be truly missed by those that knew him and his beautiful smile.
Born in 1931 in Oceanside, Calif. to Antonio Romero and Josephine Rojelio. He graduated from Oceanside High School in 1951 where he played on their baseball team as their star pitcher. Vince was a United States Army veteran and served during the Korean War as a Pole Lineman for the Korean Peace talks. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant in 1954.
It was then he began his career as a cabinet maker and later joined the Carpenters Union. When something needed to be made out of wood he was the man that could create it, smiling all the way.
He loved his children and grandchildren there are many fond memories of family gatherings and barbecues. He enjoyed watching Nascar, sports events and cutting firewood. Even up until the age of 85, he would go out and cut firewood with his son-in-law Steve. He was a Loyal Order of Moose member for 45 years and also a member of the Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years Peggy Romero, sons Antonio Romero, Michael Romero and his daughter Beatrix Dawson.
He is survived by his sister’s: Juanita Repin, Mary Lou Baca (Paul), Catalina Delgado (Joe), Brothers Espidion Granillo (Jodie), Samuel Granillo (Veronica), His daughters: Loraine Goggia (Rick) of Citrus Heights, Cindy Heaton (Steve) of Paso Robles. Step-sons: Wade Reeder, and Marvin Reeder of Nevada, as well as 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of his life Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at the Paso Robles Moose Lodge at 2548 Spring St, Paso Robles at 1 p.m.
