ATASCADERO - In the weeks since a local broadcast news segment gave its viewers the erroneous impression that development company Madonna Enterprises had its sights set on another Atascadero hotel location, company president Clint Pierce has fielded more than a few confused phone calls.
That includes a quick talk with the Atascadero News, during which he clarified that he’s more than happy to keep media up to date on their Home2Suites by Hilton franchise hotel currently under construction at Del Rio and El Camino Real, they’re just not building another one anytime soon.
The Hilton location, which will be run by a management company rather than by the Madonna family directly as is the famous San Luis Obispo attraction, is almost as tall as it’s going to get. Work started on the fourth story of the structure last week and commuters between Atascadero and Paso Robles will have noticed the edifice springing up from the vacant lot quite rapidly since work started in September 2018.
Pierce said they’re hoping for a December 2019 opening.
The Creekside Building, Madonna’s other big project in town, former home to a bowling alley and a temporary City Hall, is still looking for long term leases on some of their space, but Wild Fields Brewery is getting set for tenant improvements on the majority of the space next to the current Chamber of Commerce, and Pierce said, they have a proposal on the books for much of the remaining space, it’s just too early for an announcement.
