SAN MIGUEL — A project to improve six miles of US Highway 101 from San Miguel to Camp Roberts will continue with a closure of the southbound US Highway 101 on-ramp at South Mission Street beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 for the next six weeks, according to Caltrans. Motorists will be able to detour to the southbound US Highway 101 on-ramp at the South Camp Roberts Undercrossing.
In addition, the southbound US Highway 101 on-ramp at Cemetery Road will re-open at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Motorists will detour via 10th Street to reach this on-ramp.
This project includes a realignment of US 101 to accommodate a new right hand southbound on-ramp at South Mission Street, paving US 101 and nearby ramps and lowering the profile of US 101 at Camp Roberts to achieve a minimum bridge clearance height. Drainage systems, guardrail and lighting will also be improved within this corridor.
The contractor for this $53 million project is Security Paving of Sylmar. It’s scheduled to be  complete in early 2020. The public may learn more about these highway upgrades on the Caltrans District 5 Projects page: http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist05/projects/sanmiguel_rehab/index.htm.
