Idaho woman killed in single-vehicle accident on Parkhill Rd.


UPDATE: The woman killed in a single-vehicle accident near Santa Margarita Monday has been identified as Mikyley Reitz, 25, of Rathdrum, Idaho. Witnesses who heard Reitz's vehicle just before the crash said they believed the vehicle was traveling at a very high rate of speed. Reitz was not able to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and the rear tires of her vehicle left the roadway and the vehicle rotated counter clockwise. When the truck re-entered the paved roadway, the truck rolled onto its top, crushing the cab. Reitz was extricated from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the California HIghway Patrol, alcohol has not be ruled out as a factor in the accident.  

SANTA MARGARITA — An 25-year-old Idaho woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Parkhill Rd. Monday evening. 

According to a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol, the unidentified woman, of Rathdrum, Idaho, was driving a 2001 Ford F350 northbound on Parkhill Road, south of Highway 58, at approximately 5:50 p.m. Monday when her vehicle left the roadway and rolled over causing fatal blunt force trauma injuries. 

The woman's identify is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
