Joyce Elaine Bond Tenney , passed away peacefully in her home on Jan. 20, 2018.
Born in January 1929 in Oakland, to Arthur and Clara Bond, Joyce lived in Oklahoma for her early years. She returned to California with her family and settled in Redding.
Joyce graduated from Shasta High School in 1946. She attended UC Berkeley and graduated with a degree in Public Health in 1950.
In 1951 she married her high school sweetheart, Donald Tenney, at Elmendorf AFB in the Territory of Alaska.
The family permanently moved to Paso Robles in 1967 where she worked as a Lab Technician for Thorpe Laboratories and the Paso Robles Memorial Hospital.
After 28 years of marriage, she and Don amicably divorced but remained friends for the remainder of their lives.
Joyce met Joseph Cooper later in life and they enjoyed over 27 years of companionship.
In the early 1980’s, Joyce and a friend took over the operation of Thorpe Laboratory when the Thorpe’s retired. The business eventually closed and she retired.
Joyce was a member of AAUW and a supporter of the Paso Robles City Library, of which she was a frequent patron.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Claire (Steven) Fryer of Paso Robles and Donna Keeley of Escondido, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; brothers Robert (Carolyn) Bond of Redding and Bill (Barbara) Louderback of Nampa, Idaho.
