ATASCADERO — Steve Houghton, who was raised in Atascadero, will retire in November of this year after humbly serving 25 years in the United States Air Force. Since August 2013, he has maintained the title of Squadron Superintendent where he oversees and manages criminal, fraud, and counterintelligence operations.
Over the past 17 years, Steve has held multiple positions with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. Throughout his career, he has both led and performed hands-on investigative work to protect military personnel and resources as well as the general public. During this time, he completed a tour of duty in South Korea and Iraq where he collected and analyzed information to decrease the threat posed by domestic and foreign enemies. In addition to his many professional achievements, Steve also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Steve’s military career has allowed him and his family to experience living in various locations around the world. He was recently stationed in Ramstein, Germany which gave him the ability to feed his passion for travel and history by experiencing Europe.
To celebrate Steve’s bravery, sacrifices, and admirable accomplishments, his family and friends will be holding a ceremony Friday, Nov. 1 in Denver, Colo. where he currently resides.
