Local programs and agencies are looking for volunteers


COUNTY — Put your life experience to work with Senior Volunteer Services and Central Coast Community Volunteers. Join many seniors, age 50 and over, who are taking the time to help improve the lives of others. SVS and CCCV can match your talents and interests with community needs. RSVP – Retired and Senior Volunteer Program 55-and-older
 
Morro Bay Senior Citizens -needs a newsletter editor for their organization. Do you want to volunteer largely from home using your computer and internet access? Prefer to be among others? You can do both! Become the editor of the Morro Scene newsletter, the monthly publication of Morro Bay Senior Citizens, Inc. Train with their current editor before she steps down.


Hearst Castle Visitor Center — always needing friendly volunteers for our Visitor Center Lobby and the Exhibit Hall. Volunteers are required to complete 16 hours of basic training provided by staff including field trips to nearby locations. Volunteers work a minimum of two four-hour shifts per month. Volunteers receive complimentary tours at Hearst Castle and other fringe benefits while participating in our Volunteer Program.

CCCV — Central Coast Community Volunteers 50-and-older


Meade Canine Rescue — welcomes inquiries 365 days a year and invites people to visit by appointment. Adopters and sponsors are welcome. We are always looking for volunteers who love animals to help with the dogs — feeding and cleaning up. We would love to have you volunteer Monday through Saturday, one to two hours per shift. No qualifications are necessary other than love and kindness.


The San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden — has many projects and events needing volunteers. Some of the Volunteer Opportunities we have available include help with gardening tasks, propagation, children’s docents, events, office assistance and garden shop sales/visitor greeter. Training on the job is available and docent training is required.
Central Coast Aquarium (Avila Beach) — new volunteers are needed and no prior knowledge of marine science is required, just bring your love of the ocean and its animals. All training will be provided. Exhibit Hall volunteers will help the public and school groups learn about the marine life in our care. Opportunities also exist to feed the animals and work the front desk.   


The program of Senior Volunteer Services is funded by The Corporation for National Community Service, San Luis Obispo County and individual/business donations.
