Louise Wood-Jennings

Louise Aleta Hulings-Wood-Jennings of Paso Robles passed away on March 30, 2019, with her daughters at her side. She was born in Emporia, Kan., on July 21, 1930, and arrived in Paso Robles in 1943. Louise graduated from Paso Robles High School in 1948, the same year she was crowned May Queen.
In 1949, she married native Laurence Harley (Larry) Wood and they raised three daughters before his death in 1976. The family business was H.A. Wood Welding and Machine Shop at the 13th Street Bridge, (now TAPS).
Louise was crowned Mrs. Paso Robles in 1956 for her natural beauty and homemaker skills.
Louise worked at Paso Robles Insurance for many years with P.D. Fowler, Giff Sobey and Ben Holstead.
In 1978, she married Ralph Jennings and they spent many years traveling the United States in a motorhome and aboard their boat which they lived on for a time before his passing in 1994. She was an adventure-loving person, and always ready to go on a road trip. Her positive outlook on life and readiness for the next adventure was passed on to her daughters.
She returned to Paso Robles and reconnected with fellow Bearcat, Cliff Tucker, proving that love can keep you young no matter your age. She loved his kids as her own and he was a wonderful addition to her family. They had many happy years together, traveling back and forth to his beach house in Cayucos. They kept very active until the last couple of years. Cliff preceded her in death by just a couple of months.
Louise was an active member of several bridge clubs. Cliff and Louise spent many days playing Hand and Foot and Dominos with the families.
Louise is survived by daughters: Colleen Andrus (Del), Judy Wood and Kathy Blackburn (Marvin) as well as her sister Terry Schroeder of San Diego, grandchildren: Jason Andrus, Cheryl Andrus, Jeannie Groves Holt, AJ Groves, Leslie Fillmore Mascorro, Julia Fillmore, Elizabeth Fillmore, Michelle Koury Biegler, Meghan Blackburn Mankins and James Blackburn, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who all miss her wonderful sense of humor.
A service will be held on July 20, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the Paso Robles District Cemetery. Following the service, please join Louise's family in a celebration of her life at the Paso Robles Inn 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please bring your photos, memories and laughter as she wanted to be remembered with love.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made in her name to the Paso Robles Pioneer Museum.
