Mildred Josephine Barclay was born in Paso Robles on Sept. 8, 1920, to May 26, 2019. She was Called to God on May 26, 2019, while surrounded by her loving family. She was the youngest and last surviving child of 10 children of George and Josephine Sturgeon. She was born in Paso Robles and graduated from high school in Layton in 1938. Millie met Dale Barclay while working at Paso Robles laundry business office in Paso Robles in 1941. It was love at first sight and they were married in 1942.
She is survived by her four children, Janice Smith, John Barclay, Barbara Steffen, Arthur Barclay, 15 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. She retired from Twin Cities Hospital office administration in 1990. Millie played in a harmonica band in high school and still played for her family up until a few weeks ago on her original harmonica she had in high school. She was a strongly devout Christian woman. She enjoyed her family, her friends, and church events, and always met you with a smile
Services will be held Monday, June 3 at Paso Robles District Cemetery at 11 a.m. With a reception to follow at First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice or First Baptist Church.
