Kathy Peterson and Lori Bickel, Committee for Atascadero Public Schools (CAPS) Chairpersons, presented the Atascadero Unified School District Board of Trustees with an $80,000 check Tuesday at the school board meeting. Peterson said this year CAPS supported many programs, including the purchase of a greenhouse for one of their schools, a good number of robotics kits, books and reading materials, P.E. equipment, headphones, six cameras with equipment, and the making of a vegetable garden. CAPS also sponsored several guest speakers, including naturalist, as well as funding many trips, including a sixth grade trip to Hearst Castle, field trips to the Children’s Museum, the Mission, Rancho El Chorro Outdoor School and SLO MakerSpace. “It’s just an amazing variety of stuff,” Peterson said.
