ATASCADERO — The City of Atascadero held the official groundbreaking ceremony on June 4 to announce roadwork scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 5, to repave Viejo Camino between El Camino Real and Paloma Court.
Paving work is expected to take approximately two weeks, with final striping to be completed by the beginning of July. The contractor will be closing Viejo Camino to through traffic between El Camino Real and the Paloma Park northern driveway during construction.
For access to Paloma Park or Halcon Road, use Santa Barbara Road to Viejo Camino. For residents of the Bordeaux House Apartments and La Paloma Court, access will be maintained throughout the project, but there may be delays of up to 20 minutes during construction activities. Following is the schedule:
Wednesday, June 5: Lowering utilities. The roadway will remain open but will have intermittent closures and flagging control.
Thursday, June 6 - Friday, June 7: Roadway grinding.
Monday, June 10- Friday, June 14: Roadway repaving.
During construction activities, RTA stops will be temporarily relocated. The northbound stop will be located on El Camino Real at the corner with Viejo Camino. The southbound stop will be located at the northern end of the Paloma Park parking lot at the green bench. Transit riders can access this stop via the sidewalk to Paloma Park.
