Heaven has gained a new angel. Robert “Butch” Samp, 70, of Kingman, Ariz. passed away on November, 11, 2017. Butch was born in Paso Robles. He attended K-12 grades in Templeton and spent most of his life in this area.
Butch joined the Army after graduation and was station at Fort Ord. He helped his dad, Ray, run the R.S. Charlois Ranch in Templeton until the ranch was sold. He moved out of the area about six years ago. Butch spent his life driving cattle trucks, sand and gravel trucks, and recycling trucks. He loved his trucks from childhood through adulthood!
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Samp and father, Ray Samp. He is survived by a sister, Carol Machado, of Seymour, Ind. and two nieces and their families, all of Seymour; and survived by a son and daughter, Richard and Rachael, a granddaughter, Shannon and grandson, James, all of California. Also surviving is Tina Due, his dear friend and caregiver.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2018 in Templeton.
