ATASCADERO — On Tuesday, April 9 the community of Atascadero awoke to several police cars lined up on Atascadero Avenue, near Morro Road, with officers standing guns drawn. The Atascadero Police Department was on scene as well as the San Luis Obispo County Probation Department and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department to serve a search warrant at 7 a.m..
Several social media accounts wondered if a neighborhood drug house had finally been cleaned up. At about 10:30 a.m., seven people were taken into custody on various drug charges and stolen property was recovered.
Melony Diane Turmel, 57, was arrested for operating the residence in the 7300 block of Atascadero Avenue as a place of unlawfully selling or giving away illegal controlled substances. She was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance. She was booked into county jail on April 9 at 12:35 p.m. and her court date was set for April 24.
In addition, Shaun Michael Turmel, 32, was also booked into county jail at 1:42 p.m. on suspicion of violating felony probation.
Brian Davis Cook, 41, was arrested on suspicion of possession of paraphernalia used for a controlled substance. Cook was booked into county jail on April 9 at 1:19 p.m. His court date is set for June 10.
Cruz Christopher Gomez Jr., 39, had bench warrants for his arrest for three counts of failure to appear in court for felony charges. He was booked into county jail April 9 at 12:08 p.m. Gomez’s court date was scheduled for April 11. His bail was set at $45,000.
Sarah Elizabeth Lilley, 35, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. She was booked into County Jail on April 9 at 12:56 p.m. and her court date was set for June 10.
Younger James Davis, 23, was arrested on suspicion of possession of paraphernalia, for violating their felony probation and on a warrant for failure to appear. He was booked into county jail on April 9 at 2:06 p.m. His bail was set at $27,000. His court date was set for June 10.
Samantha Hope Maxwell, 22, was arrested on suspicion of violating felony probation and for a warrant for failure to appear. She was booked into county jail April 9 at 11:40 a.m. Maxwell’s bail was set at $20,000.
Atascadero police arrested six of the individuals, with SLO probation taking custody of Shaun Michael Turmel.
