SLO Regional CERT annual meeting set for Jan. 22

COUNTY — The San Luis Obispo Regional CERT will hold their annual meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the SLO Veterans Memorial Building, 801 Grand Ave., San Luis Obispo. This event is open to the public.
The San Luis Obispo Regional CERT will share informaton related to disaster preparedness throughout SLO County. They will report on last year’s accomplishments, (formation of a South County CERT program and training individuals to administer CERT courses); and there will be a discussion of 2019 goals (creating a new North County CERT program and implementing Disaster Service Worker coverage for all CERT volunteers).
“Our goal is to make our county prepare for any type of disaster that could occur,” stated Sheriff Ian Parkinson.
Board members Cal Fire Unit Chief Scotty Jalbert, Sheriff Parkinson, and Cal OES Chief Robert Lewis will provide a short overview of current level of preparedness and how CERT fits into this plan. Other guests will include elected officials. law enforcement official and service agecies in the community.
