Transient found in daycare after early morning break in

ATASCADERO —  On Nov. 27 at 6:50 a.m. officers with the Atascadero Police Department were dispatched to Busy Bees Preschool on Santa Lucia Road. An employee opening the business that morning found an unknown woman inside the daycare. Police apprehend 31-year-old Sjana Fay Salazar, a transient. Salazar was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of burglary and her bail was set at $50,000.
Sgt. Caleb Davis with the APD said that a burglary is “when someone breaks in and takes or has the intent to take something unlawfully, whether that is a safe or a blanket.”
The night of Nov. 26 was cold and had been raining the night before and the arrested party appeared to have been seeking shelter, according to Davis.
Police would like to remind everyone that the Atascadero Warming Shelter is open at St. William’s Church in Atascadero. The shelter is operated in partnership with the Atascadero Police Department, El Camino Homeless Organization, Global Sharing and St. William’s Church.
