This past Tuesday, June 11 was the kickoff for the Tuesdays in the Park summer barbecues served by our nonprofits and sponsored by the Atascadero Chamber. Parents for Joy served on Tuesday and raised funds for the new Joy Playground located at Colony Park Community Center here in Atascadero. The next barbecue will be Tuesday, June 18 and will be served by members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
Once again the Elks Lodge No. 2733 BBQ Crew is preparing those wonderful dinners that include chicken or beef, salad, beans, bread and a drink. Food is served from 5-7 p.m. at Atascadero Lake Park, by a participating nonprofit organization.
Tickets purchased in advance of the event are $9 for children 10 years and younger, $14 for adults and $12 for Seniors 60 years and over. Tickets purchased at the event will be a dollar more. So, get those tickets early! Tickets are available from members of the nonprofit or at the Chamber office, 6907 El Camino Real.
From 7-8 p.m. the Community Band will play in the bandstand by the Lake. Bring your low-back chairs and enjoy the music. Remember to throw in a sweater for those evenings when we cool down from the heat of the day.
Closing out June will be the Atascadero Historical Society and the Atascadero Veterans Memorial Foundation on Tuesday, June 25.
