ATASCADERO — An Atascadero man was arrested and his 4-year-old son was found safe Thursday afternoon, the Atascadero Police Department reported.
On Thursday, Jan. 31, APD responded to a missing person’s report involving suspicious circumstances involving the pair.
During the investigation, Atascadero police learned that the resident, Cody Parrott, had been acting irrationally. Parrott reportedly left the residence sometime during the night and took his 4-year-old son, Noah Parrot, with him and police believe he may be at risk.
During the course of their investigation, APD learned Parrott had been in Tehachapi and detectives focused their search on the Highway 395 corridor.
At approximately 3:35 p.m., a California Highway Patrol unit out of the Bishop area located Parrott's vehicle on Highway 395 near the town of Independence. CHP officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, Parrott failed to yield.
He was eventually stopped and taken into custody on suspicion of evading a police unit and child endangerment.
Noah was found safe in the vehicle and is currently in the care of CHP officers. APD detectives have been in contact with Noah’s family and are helping to make arrangements to reunite Noah with his family.
The Atascadero Police Department is actively investigating this incident and is asking anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Cody and Noah Parrott to contact the Department at 805-461-5051.
