This weekend more than 140 local wineries, tasting rooms and vineyards will come together to celebrate all things Zinfandel at the highly anticipated annual event, Vintage Paso: Zinfandel Weekend.
Fortunately for Paso Robles, the Zinfandel grape — one of California’s most prominent grapes and historically interesting wines — naturally prefers warmer regions. It has consequently grown exponentially in popularity within recent years and can be found at a majority of the area’s wineries.
The three day weekend, hosted by the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance, featured Zinfandel experiences in countless stunning Paso Robles locations offering everything from experiences to meetings with illustrious culinary partners, listening in on professional seminars and even indulging in once-in-a-lifetime winemaker dinners.
The weekend kicks off Friday with its three main events, the first of which is the prestigious Zimposium Seminar at the Paso Robles Inn Ballroom from 5:30 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. The event, led by a panel of winemakers including famous Master Sommelier and premier wine educator Peter Neptune, will hone in on Paso Robles’ grape heritage as a whole.
Following the Zimposium will be SLO Film Festival screenings at downtown’s Park Cinemas from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Here, guests will be able to experience life behind the scenes with filmmaker Colin West. A wine enthusiast, West has spent a majority of his career pioneering ways through the industry’s various visual media platforms.
The night will end with crowd favorite, the Z-Nightcap After Party, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. 20 participating wineries such as Allegretto Vineyards and Wines, Peachy Canyon Winery, Ranchita Canyon Vineyard and Vina Robles Vineyards & Winery will offer relaxing walk-arounds complemented with an eclectic selection of tasty desserts and live music.
For one weekend each year, the Vintage Paso: Zinfandel Weekend is the perfect opportunity for wine enthusiasts — from both near and far — to taste hundreds of Zinfandel styles from all across the Central Coast’s growing regions. From introducing new releases, tapping into barrel tastings and indulging in the perfect food pairings, locals and Central Coast visitors alike will have plenty to both see and do.
The weekend is set to be a special celebration of everybody’s favorite full-flavored red and its colorful and rich history.
