Wine Fest is here! | Around About North County

Well, here we go with our 24th Atascadero Lakeside Wine Festival “Central Coast Reserve Experience” weekend. We’ve got the Kiwanis/Mayors’ Winemaker Dinner tonight and the Optimist Golf Tournament in the morning starting at 8 a.m. Enjoy Yoga and mimosas (while they last) at Wine’d Up at 9 a.m. with a free workout in the Sunken Gardens presented by Kennedy Club Fitness, ending the day with our “special” Lakeside Wine Festival starting in the late afternoon at 4 p.m. and going until 8 p.m. Then on Sunday you can experience Sunday Fun Day and visit some of the participating wineries to continue exploring all that the Central Coast has to offer. Special deals will be available at most locations.

Not only will you be tasting award-winning wines, but you will also have a chance to taste ciders, craft beers, and some distilled spirits.

The Atascadero Lakeside Wine Festival Committee has put together a great event that includes those “beverages” I listed, plus live music, craft vendors, local artists, and “good eats.”

Tickets include admission to the Charles Paddock Zoo, located at the Lake Park, where you will have an opportunity to “sip some more” and extend your “Reserve Experience.”

Remember to share your best shot (with your camera!). Share the best photo of your Central Coast Reserve Experience on the CCRE [email protected] CentralCoastReserveExperience or Instagram with the hashtag #CentralCoastReserve or email [email protected] to enter to win tickets to the 2020 festival. First prize is six 2020 Festival tickets; second prize is four tickets; and third prize is two tickets.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Charles Paddock Zoo and other projects that support our community such as the Atascadero Library, the Atascadero Fire Department’s Disaster Relief Trailer, the Lake Park Bandstand and the Joy Playground, to name a few.

Tickets are still available online at CentralCoastReserve.com or at the event on Saturday. Hope to see you there!

Remember, there will not be a concert in the park this Saturday, June 22, due to the Wine Festival. However, the concert series will start again on June 29 with the Crisptones Band that has been a staple on the Central Coast for over 10 years. The band was awarded Contemporary Band of the Year in 2007 by the LA Music Awards and Singer Song Writer of the Year by the Dallas Song Writers Association. For more information, visit the website at crisptones.com.

The popular Ice Cream Zoofari is scheduled for July 13, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. As the summer heats up you can cool down at this ice cream-filled event. Your entry into the event includes all you can eat ice cream, sundaes, root-beer floats, sugar-free treats and much more! Enjoy an evening with the animals who live at the Zoo, while eating ice cream.

Children 2 years and under are free. Children 3-11 years are $8, while adults (ages 12 years and over) are $12. CZ Zoo Society members receive a $2 discount on each ticket.

For more information, call 805-461-5080.

Movies in the Gardens, presented by Twin Cities Hospital, will begin on Saturday, Aug. 3 with the popular movie “Mary Poppins Returns.”

Movies are shown in the Sunken Gardens, located at 6505 El Camino Real. For more information, call 805-470-3360 or visit online at visitatascadero.com.

Mark your calendar right now for Hot El Camino Cruise Night on Aug. 16 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Also mark off Aug. 17 for Dancing in the Streets from 5-10 p.m., in downtown Atascadero. I’ll have more information as we get closer to the events.

One of the highlights of that weekend will be the Mid-State Cruizer’s Car Show during the day on Aug. 17. So be ready for a full weekend of cars and dancing!

The Atascadero Historical Society and the Atascadero Veterans Memorial Foundation will be serving June 25, at the Tuesday BBQs in the Park, from 5-7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Chamber or at the event. (Best to purchase ahead and save $1 per ticket!)

The outstanding Atascadero Community Band will play at the Bandstand by the Lake from 7-8 p.m. Bring your chairs and enjoy the music after you eat that delicious barbecue prepared by the Atascadero Elks BBQ crew.

Get ready to enjoy the 11th Annual Lavender Festival organized by Main Street Association Downtown Paso Robles. This great event is scheduled for Saturday, July 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Paso City Park. Admission is free.

Remember that the Paso Robles Concerts are on Thursday evening and begin at 6 p.m. in the Paso City Park. Bring your own chair.

These are busy times, so get ready to enjoy all that our North County communities have to offer. Happy summer!

Cheers!
