VFW 2814 will be laying live wreaths on veteran graves at the Pine Mountain Cemetery

ATASCADERO — Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) 2814 of Atascadero announced they are supporting Wreaths Across America at the Pine Mountain Cemetery as part of the national organization’s Group Sponsorship Program. This national program’s mission is to Remember the fallen, Honor those who served and Teach the next generation the value of freedom.

The goal for VFW 2814 is to support efforts that help unify the community and celebrate freedom by thanking the 700 veterans laid to rest at Pine Mountain Cemetery with the placement of a live balsam veteran’s wreath this December. Pine Mountain Cemetery is located at 1 Cemetery Road in Atascadero.

For only $15, each wreath sponsor can ensure a local veteran will receive a wreath at their grave in December with $5 of each sponsorship benefitting the VFW 2814 and its programs for veterans and their families.

“This is a great way to honor those veterans that are no longer with us and show their families and friends that we have not forgotten,” said Chris Rohrberg, VFW Post 2814 Quartermaster.

“We are forever grateful to all the volunteers and groups who dedicate their time and effort nationwide to fulfilling this yearlong mission,” said Karen Worcester, executive director, Wreaths Across America. “These individuals and their communities know the value of remembering the fallen, honoring those who currently serve and teaching the next generation about the sacrifices made for our freedom every day, and with their continued support, Wreaths Across America continues to grow.”
