Pennon will officially take on his role on Oct. 4, filling the spot vacated by Mary Kay Mills
ATASCADERO — On Wednesday, Sept. 28, the Atascadero Unified School District (AUSD) held a special Board of Trustees meeting to elect a new trustee to fill the vacancy for the remainder of Mary Kay Mills’ term, which will expire in Nov. 2024.
Mills’ resignation took effect Sept. 1, and on Sept. 28, Matthew Pennon was selected in a four to two vote as the candidate to fill the open two-year term seat.
Pennon was one of eight candidates who interviewed for the trustee seat. The other candidates were Dwayne Burbach, Chris Collins, Howard Gillingham, Rebekah Koznek, Deborah McKrell, John Patrick, and Erin Stehli.
Pennon will take his Trustee Oath of Office at 5:45 p.m. at the Oct. 4 AUSD meeting.
