Eddie Aldo Martinez-Brito apprehended with female ‘getaway driver’ on Friday in SLO County
On March 31, Santa Barbara Police Department officers were dispatched to a tobacco retailer on Calle Real in Santa Barbara to investigate a robbery, and on April 10, a suspect was arrested in connection to the crime on charges of robbery and criminal threats.
The suspect is 22-year-old Atascadero resident Eddie Aldo Martinez-Brito, who allegedly robbed the tobacco shop with a semi-automatic pistol, threatened to shoot the clerk and demanded cash and marijuana bongs, while wearing a surgical mask. Security footage showed the suspect escape the location with a getaway driver.
On April 10, SBPD detectives located and arrested Martinez-Brito and a female suspect in San Luis Obispo County. Police recovered live ammunition and a replica handgun during the arrest, as well as marijuana paraphernalia believed to be taken during the robbery.
The female suspect — alleged getaway driver — was charged with accessory to robbery. Martinez-Brito is being held in Santa Barbara County Jail on $50,000 bail.
