Atascadero to screen Footloose at final Movies in the Park event

ATASCADERO — The City of Atascadero will host its final “Movies in the Park” event of the summer Saturday, Aug. 29, featuring the 1984 musical drama Footloose.

Family activities and games will begin at 7 p.m. at Colony Park Softball Field No. 2, located at 5599 Traffic Way next to the Colony Park Community Center. The movie will begin about 15 minutes after sunset, at approximately 8 p.m.

Rated PG, Footloose follows Ren McCormack, a teenager who moves from Chicago to a small Midwestern town where dancing and rock music have been banned. Ren struggles to fit in while working to challenge the town’s rules.

Food will be available for purchase. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and low-back chairs for the outdoor screening.
