‘Bachelor Pet’ adoption event returns to Woods Humane Society

NORTH COUNTY — Woods Humane Society is bringing back its popular Bachelor Pet adoption event just in time for Valentine’s Day, offering reduced adoption fees for adult dogs and cats from Feb. 11–15.

During the five-day event, adoption fees for adult pets will be lowered to $14, plus applicable dog license fees, a significant reduction from standard adoption costs that typically range from $65 for senior cats to $150 for adult dogs. The event is designed to spotlight adult animals waiting for homes and encourage community members to find a new companion this Valentine’s season.

Inspired by reality dating shows, Bachelor Pet highlights adoptable dogs and cats as “contestants” looking for their perfect match. Woods Humane Society CEO Emily L’Heureux said the event combines fun with purpose by helping reduce barriers to adoption while showcasing animals eager to provide companionship and unconditional love.

Woods currently has about 55 adult pets available for adoption, ranging in age from 5 months to 10 years and representing a wide variety of breeds. All adoptable animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, licensed, and treated for parasites. Adoptions also include a complimentary wellness exam at a local veterinary clinic and 30 days of voluntary pet insurance.

Woods Humane Society operates locations at 875 Oklahoma Ave. in San Luis Obispo and 2300 Ramona Road in Atascadero. The shelters are open daily from noon to 5 p.m., with adoptions available from noon to 4 p.m. More information is available at WoodsHumane.org
