Downtown Atascadero launches 'Holiday Window Wars' community art competition
By Atascadero News · Tue Nov 25 2025
ATASCADERO — Downtown Atascadero is kicking off a new festive tradition this December with "Paint the Downtown — Holiday Window Wars," a community art competition that transforms business storefronts into hand-painted holiday displays. The event runs over the weekend of Dec. 6–7, with public voting beginning Dec. 8.
Local businesses and artists — including high school, fine arts program, and professional artists — are invited to participate. Businesses may request an artist, decorate their own window, or simply enter an existing display. Paint and basic supplies are provided, and additional window-safe materials are welcome.
During Paint Weekend, the public can stroll downtown and watch the artwork come to life. A printable map of participating businesses will guide visitors on a walking tour. Completed windows will be featured in online voting from Dec. 8–14, with QR codes displayed at each storefront. The winning business-artist team earns holiday bragging rights.
