Paso Robles murder case to be featured in new CBS true crime series

Local journalist Camille DeVaul shares insight on 2018 Nancy Woodrum case in Harlan Coben’s Final Twist, airing Jan. 21 on CBS and Paramount+

NORTH COUNTY — In July 2025, Atascadero News Content Editor Camille DeVaul had the opportunity to be interviewed by CBS Documentaries for a new true crime documentary series premiering this January.

In 2023, DeVaul sat down with San Luis Obispo County detective Clint Cole to reflect on the case of the murder of Paso Robles resident Nancy Woodrum. The Paso Robles hairdresser, mother, grandmother, and friend was murdered on Cinco de Mayo in 2018.

You can read the full story with Cole here.

Nancy's story will be featured in an episode of #1 New York Times bestselling author Harlan Coben's new series, Harlan Coben's Final Twist.

Woodrum's story is the third episode to air, "No Sign of Nancy," on Wednesday, Jan. 21 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET/PT).

The series premiered on Wednesday, Jan. 7 on the CBS Television Network, and is available to stream on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ Premium plan subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs).

The first episode shared the story of a couple, "Billy & Billie Jean." When police find a couple murdered in their home, the investigation leads to social media. Detectives discover a bizarre cyberbullying conflict with a neighboring family and the possible covert involvement of a CIA agent driven by personal vengeance.

The second episode, "Gambler's Debt," says that when Anna Mae, a wildly successful businesswoman, is found stabbed in her untouched home, detectives face a tangle of suspects and shifting motives. Each lead — casinos, hidden debts, and even a fugitive linked to her family — seems to crack the case, until new questions upend everything once again.
