SLO County libraries to host free Festival Mozaic Young Artist concerts

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — Five San Luis Obispo County library branches will host free string quartet performances this July as part of the Festival Mozaic Young Artists Mini-Concert series, showcasing emerging musicians from leading U.S. music schools.

The series begins Thursday, July 16, with a 10 a.m. performance at the Atascadero Library, followed by a 2 p.m. concert at the Shandon Library. On Friday, July 17, performances will be held at the Nipomo Library at 10 a.m. and the Los Osos Library Community Center at 2 p.m. The series concludes Saturday, July 18, at 10 a.m. at the San Luis Obispo Library.

The free events are sponsored by the San Luis Obispo County Library Foundation and feature student musicians performing chamber music in an intimate, community setting.

"We are thrilled to partner again with SLO County Libraries and the SLO County Library Foundation to present these fine young musicians,” said Scott Yoo, Music Director for Festival Mozaic. “The Young Artist Mini-Concerts are a fantastic way to introduce families and children to the world of classical music, and for community members at large to experience performances of a very high caliber right in their neighborhood."

The program is part of the larger Festival Mozaic summer series, which includes more than 30 events across the county. The Young Artists will also perform in a culminating Community Concert on July 19 at the Harold J. Miossi Central Coast Performing Arts Center.

More information is available at Festival Mozaic and at SLO County Libraries.
