Two Arrested in homicide of Coalinga woman Isabel LucasVelasco

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the disappearance of Isabel LucasVelasco, reported missing on September 13, is now being investigated as a homicide.
Isabel was last seen at a jobsite in rural Arroyo Grande on September 12. On Saturday, October 11, San Luis Obispo and Fresno County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue teams, along with detectives, conducted an extensive search along Highway 198, west of Coalinga, where they located a body believed to be Isabel. The remains have been turned over to the San Luis Obispo County Coroner’s Office for identification confirmation.
Two arrests have been made in connection with the case:
- Alejandro SorianoOrtiz, 45, of Coalinga, charged with murder and arson related to burning the victim’s vehicle.
- Celestino SorianoOrtiz, 40, of Santa Maria, charged as an accessory to murder and in connection with the arson. Alejandro is believed to have been Isabel’s former boyfriend.


Sheriff Parkinson commended the collaborative efforts of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office, and multiple Sheriff’s Office units including the Major Crimes Unit, Special Victims Unit, Special Operations Unit, and Search and Rescue, for their work in solving the case and providing closure for Isabel’s family.
