Two men injured in Atascadero shooting following fight

ATASCADERO — Two men were injured in a shooting Sunday evening following a physical altercation inside a residence in the 9100 block of San Diego Road, according to the Atascadero Police Department.

Police responded to reports of a disturbance involving gunfire at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Aug. 2. Investigators determined that two adult men had been involved in a fight when one of them produced a handgun. Approximately two rounds were fired while the men were in close proximity to one another.

Both men sustained gunshot wounds and were transported by ambulance to Sierra Vista Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said there are no outstanding suspects and no ongoing threat to the community.
