Woods Humane Society waives adoption fees for senior pets in November

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — In honor of National Adopt a Senior Pet Month, Woods Humane Society is celebrating with its “Senior Pets Rock” promotion, waiving adoption fees (excluding dog license fees) for dogs and cats ages 7 and older throughout November.

“Senior Pet Month is a wonderful opportunity to spread awareness about the many great reasons to consider adopting an older dog or cat,” says Woods CEO Emily L’Heureux. “Just like the classic rock tunes we all love, the whole family can appreciate the sweet qualities of a senior pet. They’ve got soul, swagger, and a love for the simple things like snuggles, snacks, and naps.”

The promotion is supported by a grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization, which helps provide veterinary care for older pets. Woods highlights that seniors are often house-trained, calmer, and offer loyal companionship, making them ideal additions to families.

Available senior pets include Smiley, an 8-year-old Chihuahua, and Tiny, a 12-year-old Yorkie, both recently treated for medical needs.
