SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — Adventist Health on the Central Coast has implemented Epic, a unified electronic health record system now connecting its hospitals, physician practices and imaging centers.

The transition includes Adventist Health Sierra Vista, Adventist Health Twin Cities, Adventist Health Medical Group primary care and specialty clinics, and Adventist Health Imaging.

According to Adventist Health, the connected system gives care teams a comprehensive view of each patient’s health information, supporting improved coordination and reducing time spent on paperwork. Patients will also have streamlined access to appointments, messages and medical records through the MyChart patient portal.

The system includes AI-assisted documentation tools designed to help clinicians and staff spend less time on administrative tasks and more time with patients.

“This is about much more than implementing new technology. It is about creating a more  connected experience for our patients and giving our physicians and care teams better tools to  care for them,” said Ryan Ashlock, Central Coast Network President. “We believe deeply in  the future of the Central Coast, and Epic is another important step in making advanced,  coordinated care easier to access close to home. Most importantly, it gives our teams more  opportunity to focus on what matters most: the person in front of them.”

Adventist Health has served the Central Coast for the past 29 months while investing in expanded access to care and infrastructure intended to support future healthcare needs.

Adventist Health is a faith-based, nonprofit health system serving more than 100 communities across the West Coast and Hawaii. The organization operates more than 440 sites of care, including 27 acute care facilities, and employs more than 38,000 people, including employees, physicians, medical staff and volunteers.
