John Jacobs (1948-2026)

John Jacobs, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away on October 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. John was a hardworking man with a big heart, strong faith, and an unconditional love for his family.

John spent much of his life building a life centered around family and hard work. In Atascadero, California, he owned and operated Jacobs Roofing, a business that became a family affair, giving those he loved the opportunity to work alongside him.

After retiring, John and his wife, Sherry, moved to North Carolina, where they found a special connection to the mountains and their community. John became involved in his church and was passionate about supporting people in recovery and believing in second chances.

He especially enjoyed the music and mountain culture of North Carolina. He loved bluegrass and blues and embraced the people, traditions, and beauty that made the mountains feel like home.

Above all, John was devoted to his family. The unconditional love he gave them is his lasting legacy, living on through his children, grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife, Sherry; his children, John Jacobs, Taj Hess, David Wilson, Sage Jacobs, Jerry Dyer, and April Storm; and his grandchildren, Mae Jacobs, Ellie Jacobs, Evelyn Jacobs, Dustin Dyer, Chance Dyer, Hezekiah Wilson, Moriah Ayhens, Keturah Storm, Caleb Ayhens, Hannah Ayhens, Micah Ayhens, Cheyenne Gasson, Erin Robison, Codi Anderson, Draven Olivera, and Zakariah Parks.
