SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — Overnight roadwork associated with the Prado Road Interchange Project will begin Sunday, Sept. 13, with closures planned along U.S. 101 in San Luis Obispo.
The northbound U.S. 101 Prado Road on-ramp will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday, Sept. 25. Shoulder closures will also be in place along the southbound lanes during the same hours.
The work will involve geotechnical drilling to support the design of the Prado Road Interchange, which will eventually connect Prado Road with Madonna Road via an overpass.
Drivers using the northbound Prado Road on-ramp will be detoured to the next off-ramp at Madonna Road. Delays are expected to be minimal, with travelers advised to allow up to five additional minutes.
Message and directional signs will be posted, and drivers are asked to use caution while crews work alongside the highway.
The Prado Road Interchange Project will construct a new partial interchange at Prado Road, creating an east-west connection across U.S. 101. The interchange will include northbound on- and off-ramps.
More information about the project is available through the City of San Luis Obispo’s Prado Road Interchange Project webpage. Road information and updates are also available through Caltrans District 5 social media channels.
