ATASCADERO — Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire Monday evening that damaged multiple outbuildings and a travel trailer and threatened a nearby shop on the 7100 block of Sycamore Road.
According to fire officials, crews were dispatched at approximately 6:40 p.m. on March 9 to 7135 and 7145 Sycamore Road. When firefighters arrived, they found two outbuildings, a fence, and a travel trailer heavily involved in flames, with fire beginning to spread to a nearby shop estimated at about 1,500 square feet.
Six engines, three command vehicles and two investigators responded, with about 20 personnel working to contain the blaze.
During firefighting operations, several cylinders and cans inside the structures caused small explosions, increasing the intensity of the fire and requiring crews to take a defensive approach.
Firefighters knocked down the fire about 20 minutes after dispatch. Crews remained on scene for approximately three hours conducting overhaul operations.
No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
