SLO County Elections Office seeks poll workers ahead of June 2 Election

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — The San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder-Elections Office is urgently seeking poll workers ahead of the June 2 election, warning that several North County voting locations could be consolidated if staffing shortages are not resolved.

Elections officials said inspectors are still needed at eight voting sites. Inspectors are responsible for opening and closing polling places, managing operations throughout Election Day, and coordinating with roving precinct assistants and Elections Office staff from 7 a.m. until approximately 9 p.m.

County Clerk-Recorder Elaina Cano said recruiting the more than 600 poll workers needed to fully staff voting locations has become increasingly difficult in recent years, citing seasonal conflicts such as school year-end activities and summer travel.

Officials said training has already been conducted for hundreds of workers, and make-up training sessions will be available on May 30 and by special arrangement for late volunteers.

The Elections Office said that if additional inspectors are not secured, some polling places may be consolidated, with any changes communicated to affected voters over the weekend and ahead of Election Day.
