Additional prizes will be given for the best Thanksgiving costumes, for individual, group, and animal

ATASCADERO — El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO) invites the community to join in the Thanksgiving spirit by participating in the annual Turkey Trot 5K and Fun Run at Atascadero Lake Park. Scheduled for Thanksgiving morning, this family-friendly event is the perfect way to start the holiday by enjoying the outdoors, getting active, and supporting those experiencing homelessness in North County.

ECHO’s 6th Annual Turkey Trot will take place on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, at Atascadero Lake Park. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and a suggested donation of $20 per person is encouraged to support the event. Participants can compete in a 5K race with prizes awarded for first and second place in Men’s, Women’s, and Under 18 categories. Additional prizes will be given for the best Thanksgiving costumes, including Best Individual, Best Group, and Best Animal.

“Last year, over 1,000 participants joined us to trot, run, and walk, and we’re expecting an even bigger turnout this year,” said Wendy Lewis, CEO of ECHO. “The Turkey Trot is more than a fundraiser — it’s a celebration of community, kindness, and giving back. Every dollar raised will go directly to supporting families and individuals facing homelessness, and thanks to our generous community partners, every dollar donated will be doubled, helping ECHO’s impact go twice as far.”

Participants of all ages are welcome to join in the fun. The $20 suggested donation can be made online at echoshelter.orgor in person on the day of the event. All proceeds will benefit ECHO’s comprehensive programs, which provide safe shelter, nutritious meals, and essential services to help individuals and families achieve housing stability.

ECHO extends its gratitude to the community sponsors and supporters who have helped make this year’s Turkey Trot possible. With their generous commitment to doubling community donations, every participant’s contribution will make an even greater impact in the lives of those ECHO serves.

ECHO is currently seeking dedicated volunteers who want to help create a warm, welcoming environment for individuals and families in need across our campuses. From serving meals and organizing donations to assisting with our holiday events, every volunteer helps bring hope and support to our community.
