SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — Assistance League of San Luis Obispo County will celebrate its 30th anniversary by hosting a free community event, Party for a Purpose, on Thursday, July 23.
The celebration will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Court Street Terrace in downtown San Luis Obispo in partnership with The San Luis Obispo Collection. The event will feature live music by B & The Hive, raffle prizes, games, informational booths and an Assistance League Thrift Store pop-up shop.
Since its founding, the nonprofit has provided school clothing to more than 42,000 children through its Operation School Bell® program. During the past year alone, more than 100 volunteers helped provide clothing to more than 2,100 students in need.
The organization said its programs are funded through grants, private donations and proceeds from the Assistance League Thrift Store, which recently marked its 11th anniversary. Last year, the nonprofit reported returning $694,015 in value to the community, including nearly 25,000 volunteer service hours.
“As the needs of students in San Luis Obispo County continue to grow, we remain committed to expanding our capacity to serve,” said Chapter President Sharon Darnton. “We invite community members to attend the party to learn more about our mission, volunteer opportunities, and ways to support our work.”
