Atascadero Community Band names David Landers resident conductor

ATASCADERO — The Atascadero Community Band has appointed longtime Central Coast music educator and musician David Landers as its new resident conductor.

Landers will make his debut with the band during its fall concert, “Critter Pitter Patter,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Atascadero Bible Church. The concert will feature music inspired by the animal kingdom and is free and open to the public.

Landers began playing trombone in 1981 and holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Middle Tennessee State University and a master’s degree in conducting from Sam Houston State University. He spent 23 years as director of bands at Templeton High School and has remained active as an educator and professional musician throughout the Central Coast.

His performance credits include appearances with Diane Schuur, The Temptations, Allen Vizzutti and Jon Anderson of Yes, as well as performances with numerous Central Coast ensembles.

The concert will include free parking and refreshments. Donations will be accepted to benefit a local nonprofit organization.
