SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — Woods Humane Society is accepting free entries for its fourth annual Pets of the Year Calendar Contest through Sept. 20, giving local dog and cat owners a chance to have their pets featured in the organization’s 2027 calendar while raising funds for homeless animals.
The contest, sponsored by Mechanics Bank, runs from Sept. 1 through midnight Sept. 20. Participants can create a contest page, upload a photo of their pet and encourage friends and family to vote by making donations to their page.
The 10 top fundraisers will receive featured spots in the 2027 print calendar, along with four copies of the calendar and recognition in a Woods Humane Society social media post, email and website post.
Contestants who raise at least $25 will also receive a calendar and have their pet’s photo included on the calendar’s collage page.
“The Pets of the Year calendar contest highlights our community’s enthusiasm and adoration for its furry family-members, and we can’t wait to see this year’s nominations,” says Woods CEO Emily L’Heureux. “This fun, community contest is also a unique way to help homeless pets at Woods. By donating to vote on contestants’ pages, supporters can make a real difference for dogs and cats in need. Every dollar donated goes toward helping homeless pets find food, shelter, medical care, and loving families.”
Woods will unveil the 2027 calendar and announce the winners at the Woods Humane Society Wiggle Waggle Fall Festival on Oct. 24. Calendars will be available for purchase at the event.
There is no registration fee to enter the contest. Additional contest rules, prizes and guidelines are available at WoodsHumane.org/Contest
