ATASCADERO — On Sunday, Nov. 19, join the Santa Lucia Sportsmen’s Association for its Annual Turkey Shoot, benefiting Toys for Tots. Donate a new unwrapped toy and enjoy the shooting event for free. Find information on the annual Turkey Shoot below:

EVENTS:
Charge: $10 per event
Tickets: Sold at the Clubhouse and Target Shed
Prizes: Participants can win turkeys, bacon, or cash

Shotgun Events:
Quail Walk: Compete in groups of five, with five shots each. The best score wins.
Trap Shoot: Similar to Quail Walk, with the best score securing victory.
Match Director: Jerry Mattas

Pistol Event:
Participants will take five shots at 25 yards in groups of five, and the best score wins.
Match Director: Gary Grabowski

Rifle Events:
Shoot clay pigeons at 25 yards; if no winner, move to 50 yards, and then a final round at 75 yards.
Compete in groups of five, with five shots each round.
A 200-yard gong event with no rimfire rifles; compete in groups of five, with five shots each. The best score wins.

Running Deer Event:
Takes place at the Special Purpose Range (SPR).
Participants will have three shots at moving cardboard deer.
Compete in groups of five, and the best score wins.
Match Director: Steve Terry

Archery Event:
Match Director: Jerry Zalusky

Please note that no shot greater than 7.5 gauge is allowed, and shot shells for 12 ga and 20 ga are available for purchase. However, no rifle or pistol ammunition is for sale, and tactical or home defense shotguns are not allowed.

SAFETY:
All shooting activities are under the direction of the Match Director with Range Safety Officers (RSOs) to ensure a safe shooting environment.
Waivers to any rule may be granted by the match director responsible for that event.
Unsafe individuals will be asked to leave the venue/property.
All firearms brought onto SLSA property must be in a case (hard or soft), with uncasing/casing done under the direction of the match director.
Eye and hearing protection are mandatory on all shooting venues.
The four basic firearm safety rules must be followed at all times:
ALWAYS treat firearms as if they are loaded.
ALWAYS keep firearms pointed in a safe direction.
ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until on target and ready to shoot.
ALWAYS know your target and what is beyond.
No alcohol or alcoholic beverages are permitted on any of the shooting venues.

Age Requirements:
Persons above the age of 18 are welcome on all shooting venues.
Minors are defined as persons less than 18 years of age.
Minors must be fully supervised on the range by a parent or guardian; parent or guardian may not shoot while the minor is shooting.
Minors between the ages of 12 and 18 years are permitted on the shotgun, rifle, and pistol ranges.
Minors between the ages of 9 and 12 years are permitted on the rifle, shotgun, and archery ranges.
Children less than 9 years of age are not allowed on any SLSA range.

FOOD:
Breakfast: Donuts and coffee will be available for sale at $2 each.
BBQ lunch: Enjoy chicken, potato salad, garlic bread, beans, and your choice of soda or water for $10.
