The Atascadero City Council will be convening on Zoom tonight to discuss and review a financial audit of 2020 from the firm Moss, Levy, and Hartzhiem. In their audit, Moss, Levy, and Hartzhiem found that the City accurately and fairly presented its financial position and that the reporting was in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles.

The 2019-2020 fiscal year was an unpredictable one that presented many challenges due to the stay-at-home orders and business shutdowns from the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges, the City performed relatively well overall with the help from one-time funding from governmental aid through the CARES Act and Senate Bill 1090, among other things.

In addition to the audit, the City Council will also look at the Citizens’ Sales Tax Oversight Committee’s Annual Report for the fiscal year 2020. The report will cover the revenues since 2014 when Atascadero voters approved Sales Tax Measure F-14 and expenditures improving roads during 2020.

Tonight’s meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and be broadcast online via Zoom.
