Store will be the anchor to the new Del Rio Marketplace on El Camino Real

ATASCADERO — The owners of Valley Fresh Markets, one of whom has opened and operated stores in Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo, will soon open a store in Atascadero to anchor the new Del Rio Marketplace.

The husband-and-wife team of Greg and Teresa King, alongside their partners, David and Jennifer West of Ojai, will open the new market in the shopping center at El Camino Real and Del Rio Road. Greg King has been in the grocery business since 1984 and has worked with several major brand grocers until forming and opening California Fresh Markets in Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo. With a desire for additional growth, Greg and Teresa King founded Valley Fresh Markets in 2019 and purchased and rebranded the longtime Neilsen’s Market in Solvang.

“Greg and Teresa are a high-energy couple with close ties to the Solvang community and are committed to providing the ‘best of class’ service and product lines in their stores,” read a Valley Fresh statement. “The Valley Fresh staff are well-trained, knowledgeable, and, above all, committed to customer service.”

Longtime friend and fellow grocer David West, owner of two Westridge Family Markets in Ojai, joined ranks with Greg and Teresa forming a team with a combined 75 years of experience. Westridge Family Markets has served the Ojai Valley since 1994.

The owners said Valley Fresh Market’s goal is simple: “Valley Fresh Markets wants to provide an outstanding shopping experience, offer the best quality product lines and do so in an upbeat, clean and friendly environment.” The market will offer a full-service deli, a meat counter with prime and choice meats, fresh breads baked on-site, a sushi chef, a coffee and juice bar using coffee that has been roasted on-site, a full line of fresh produce, a well-stocked liquor department and an extensive line of natural and organic products as well as traditional grocery items.

Valley Fresh Markets is deeply rooted on the central coast. Its owners are life-time residents and want to develop close relationships with the Atascadero Community.

The market will anchor the latest Madonna Enterprises commercial project and has been working closely with San Luis Obispo’s Clint Pearce. The Del Rio Marketplace plans to have a residential component as well as traditional retail and office space for those that choose a “live-work” lifestyle. John Hans of Colliers International will be handling the leasing of the project and can be reached at (805) 544-3900 for those interested in learning more about the various opportunities to be part of the Del Rio Marketplace.
